Childhood. It goes by so fast. I feel like there are so many things I could have done with this, but the shot I got really reflects her childhood right now. Innocent, happiness, love. It’s amazing how much love and happiness they can have for an inanimate object. This is her first teddy bear. I remember buying it at Babies R Us before she was born. I took 3 month old pictures of her with it, back in the days of a thrown white sheet as a backdrop. Here she is 4 years later, hugging her with so much love. Sometimes he’s a he, sometimes she’s a she. He or she has had so many names in the past few months. But no matter what, she always has the same love for that teddy bear.

I am a couple weeks behind, and week 6, Pampered, is actually from the week before Valentine’s Day. My week was not very pampered, so the idea is not very creative. Hopefully though, I will be using those cards soon to pamper myself! I’m so glad Melissa did a shot of her little boy in Pampers. I thought of something like that, but my son wears cloth diapers so it wouldn’t have made sense! I love when we get to involve our kids in the shots. Not only do we get to do our project, but capture a memory as well.

This week – button. There are so many possibilities with buttons. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. And then it hit me the other night that I wanted to capture this time in our lives. These moments of seeing my daughter become so much more independent. It seems so simple – buttoning a coat. But a year ago, I don’t think she could do that all by herself. It’s these things that we just take for granted, but it really is so fascinating to realize that these simple tasks that we know how to do take time and practice for their little bodies. It truly is liberating to see life it the eyes of a child.

We have quite a collection of number birthday candles, but I guess we just hadn’t gotten a 4 until this month. My daughter turned 4 and I’m just in awe. Not only that she is 4, but that she is no longer a baby or a toddler. She just looks like a little girl now. She no longer has the baby face and little bit of chub left. I can’t get away with the cutesy baby girl clothes she once wore. The time has gone by so fast and if not for pictures and videos, I wonder how much I would have remembered on my own. It’s so bittersweet to see her growing up. I miss the baby she once was and the precocious toddler she just was. However, I love seeing the big girl she is becoming with all her wide eyed wonder and engaging conversation (most of the time!) Truly, being a mom has been the most rewarding job I have ever known.

I’ve known the S family for quite a few years but haven’t seen them in a bit. So imagine my surprise to see Miss I already 9 years old! It’s amazing how fast the kids grow up! When I shoot families, I tell them to pretend I’m not there and just interact and have fun. I thought it was funny that Dad says, “I don’t know how to act natural in an unnatural…” It makes me giggle every time I hear that in the fusion video! As with most sessions, it’s a lot easier to loosen up and act natural towards the end. Then, they sort of really forget that I’m there.

Silly and Sweet {Mercer County Family Photographer}

The S family is such a sweet and loving family! Miss E is full of life and has quite the funny personality. It was so funny when I was taking shots of just Mom and Dad (because we all know how rare it is to be alone together!) and here comes E running from behind and tunneling right between their legs! Right now, her little sister K is along for the ride, but I’m sure when she’s older and can walk and talk, she’ll be right there with big sis E having the times of their lives! Enjoy the sneak peek and don’t forget about the fusioned video slideshow at the end!

And you’re wondering why I titled this Silly, right? Here’s another shot from the session. No, it’s not an outtake. Mom specifically asked for a shot of silly faces! So funny! I guess Miss K didn’t get the memo! Love this family!!

{2010 comes to an end as 2011 begins} NJ Newborn and Family Photographer

My 2010 calendar is now officially closed. Thank you to all my wonderful clients for an amazing year. I’ve had a great time capturing moments for my awesome clients and I look forward to the sessions I have booked for the next few weeks.

The 2011 calendar is now open for bookings starting in March (I will not be taking any more bookings for January and February). On-location and studio sessions are available for maternity, newborn, and children. While I can book families at this time, I encourage clients to plan full family sessions for the outdoors starting in the late spring. Families are much more relaxed and comfortable when they can interact and play outdoors.

As the end of the year approaches, I have to take a moment to remember that I need to do for myself what all of you do – capture these moments with my loved ones. Tomorrow, my dear friend and fabulous photographer Melissa Zihlman will be visiting from Texas (if you are in the Dallas – Fort. Worth area, book her!!) and we are so fortunate that she will be able to do a session for us. We were blessed to have her capture Bella and me when I was pregnant with Marco. Now, about 18 months later, we get to have her capture all of our family together. See, even us professionals have to have other professionals do our family portraits!

And what’s a blog entry without an image? I searched the hoarder folder (you know, the one where you just dump the countless images you snap) and found this image of my daughter from April. We were outside and she was running around. I just snapped a few. Her hair is not “picture perfect” but I remember how much fun we had that evening just enjoying the moment. Her big beautiful eyes and her soft lips just melt my heart.

Maternity and Newborn Showcase {Mercer County NJ Newborn Photographer}

I have had the wonderful fortune of seeing the Delaware Valley OB/GYN and Princeton Midwifery Care practice for many years. They have been such a wonderful group of doctors, midwives, and staff that have supported me through two pregnancies and the births of my two beautiful children. I had crazy emergency births with both of my kids, and they took incredible care of me and safely delivered both of my newborns. I am forever grateful to them.

Now they have given me an opportunity to showcase my maternity and newborn work in their Lawrenceville, NJ office. The OB/Midwife side of the office is now home to six of my images on canvas wraps. It’s a wonderful chance for patients to see how large images can look on the walls.

These canvas wraps are archival quality and ready to hang.

{Sweet anticipation} Central Jersey Family Photographer

Where did the time go? It seems not that long ago that I was here at the same park with my cousin and his wife when they were expecting their first baby taking their maternity portraits and then doing their newborn session a couple months after that. Now, here is that little baby, 18 months old waiting for her baby brother or sister to come in a few months.

It was so cute to see her interacting with the baby belly.

Love how they played together…

So full of life and so full of energy…

Until it was time to just slow down with Mommy.
